Upgrading and restructuring of the RISE-Health R&D Unit: Health Research Network, including its digital transformation.
(1) To strengthen the institutional framework of the national science and technology system by building on R&D units.
(2) To support the provision of basic shared resources for R&D activities and measures aimed at creating, strengthening or enhancing the conditions provided by each R&D unit to better achieve its objectives.
(3) To supplement, as deemed appropriate, the funding secured by R&D units for general activities and to strengthen internationalisation, so as to ensure institutional conditions that enable the best possible use of available resources, in particular to promote strategies for career development and stabilisation.
(4) To contribute towards the costs of further exploiting the results of activities and projects that have already been completed and whose objectives have been successfully achieved.
The projects aim to significantly strengthen RISE-Health’s scientific, technological and operational capacity by modernising its research infrastructure, acquiring advanced scientific equipment and digitally transforming its research support resources. It is expected that the investments made will enable:
(1) Improved access for researchers to high-quality scientific equipment, thereby promoting internationally competitive research.
(2) Strengthening the unit’s shared resources, thereby increasing efficiency, interoperability and the ability to respond to the needs of different research groups.
(3) To foster scientific output of excellence, as well as the achievement of results with the potential for transfer to clinical practice, health policies and innovation in healthcare.
(4) To promote integration and collaboration amongst the various RISE-Health partner institutions, consolidating a more cohesive and sustainable national health research network.
(5) To increase the capacity to attract competitive national and international funding, including European projects and strategic collaborations.
(6) To strengthen the conditions for the advanced training of researchers, healthcare professionals and students, contributing to the development of high-level scientific and technological skills.
(7) To consolidate Open Science practices, promoting open access to publications and the utilisation of scientific data and results produced by the unit.
(8) To ensure modern and sustainable infrastructure that supports the development of multidisciplinary and translational research, contributing to the improvement of healthcare and health outcomes for the population.
