News / RISE-Health Welcomes Students from the Municipality of Lousada
The initiative gave three students their first taste of a career in research.
On April 2, the RISE-Health Research Unit, in partnership with the Municipality of Lousada, welcomed three students who aspire to become researchers in the field of biomedicine.
By “opening the doors” of the University of Porto’s School of Medicine, RISE-Health gave the three 9th-grade students the opportunity to test their knowledge of health and observe the daily work of researchers at the country’s largest research unit, while also learning about their challenges and goals.
The “Apprentice for a Day” initiative, organized by the Municipality of Lousada, is part of the “Orienta-te e Segue” project, whose main objective is to reduce early dropout rates from compulsory education and provide guidance for the school of the future, with a view to preventing dropouts and encouraging academic progression.
