Seminars RISE-Health | May - June

Scientific dissemination actions scheduled for May and June, organised by RISE-Health researchers.

At RISE-Health, the months of May and June will be marked by a number of scientific presentations by researchers from this unit, highlighting the excellent work carried out in the areas of Neuroscience and Clinical Molecular Target Translation.

The sessions, which will take place on-site and online, are aimed at the entire scientific and academic community interested in the topics covered.

On 15 May at 13h00, the Anfiteatro Azul of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior will host another PhD Talk, led on this occasion by Daniela Alexandre, a researcher in Thematic Line 5: Clinical Translation on Drug Targets and Innovative Biomedicines, and a doctoral student in Biochemistry at that university, who will present the communication ‘Exploring One-Hit Multiple Target Strategies for Lung Cancer’. Participation in this session is open to the public and also free of charge.

On 14 May, at 13h00, the online seminar ‘Epigenetic Mechanisms in Psychiatric Disease’ will be presented by Joana Marques, a researcher in RISE-Health’s Thematic Line 2 – Neurosciences.

The month of May ends with two online seminars. On 28 May, at 12h00, Raquel Carvalho, professor at the University Institute of Health Sciences – CESPU and also a researcher in Thematic Line 2 – Neurosciences at this unit, will present ‘Reach while walking, a new tool to improve gait pattern during treadmill training in able-bodied individuals, elderly, and neurological patients’; and on 29 May, at 13h00, Ana Aysa Simão, PhD student in Biomedicine at the University of Beira Interior and member of Thematic Line 5 – Clinical Translation of Molecular Targets and Innovative Medicines, will present the talk ‘Recreational drug use at a music festival: a dual approach using hair biomarkers and participant feedback.’

On 12 June, it will be the turn of Carolina Jorge, a student on the Doctoral Programme in Biomedicine at the University of Beira Interior, to address the topic ‘Sweet Taste Receptor as a Therapeutic Target in Glioblastoma’. On 26 June, André Esgalhado, a student from the same programme, will focus on cognitive function in a session entitled ‘More than Meets the Eye: Effector-Memory CD8+ T cells and Human Cognitive Function’.
