Researcher Rui Nunes (RISE-Health@RISE/FMUP) was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Federal University of Goiás (UFG).

At the ceremony held on 7 July, the chairman of the Ethics Committee at RISE-Health/Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, and full professor at the same institution, was honoured for his academic contribution to the development and internationalisation of bioethics. This recognition stems from the scientific, academic and institutional work in which he is involved.

For the RISE-Health specialist, the honour bestowed by UFG is recognition of collective work carried out over the last 25 years.

It should be noted that this was the second time Rui Nunes has received an honorary doctorate, having previously been honoured by Favaloro University in Argentina.

Currently, in addition to his affiliation with RISE-Health and FMUP, the researcher also serves as vice-president of the National Academy of Medicine and is president of the Portuguese Association of Bioethics.
