The new PhD programme will begin in the 2026/2027 academic year and will bring students into closer contact with researchers at the country’s largest research unit.
The RISE-Health Research Unit is a partner in the new Doctoral Programme in Translational Health at the School of Health Sciences of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (E2S | P.PORTO).
Launching in the 2026/2027 academic year, the new Doctoral Programme places RISE-Health at the heart of the advanced training of a new generation of researchers, giving doctoral students access to state-of-the-art scientific facilities, multidisciplinary research projects and an environment of excellence geared towards the production of scientific knowledge.
The Doctoral Programme in Translational Health has been designed for professionals and researchers who wish to transform scientific discoveries into solutions with a real impact on healthcare, public health and the bio-industries.
This new initiative from the School of Health at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto strengthens the link between fundamental research and its practical application, equipping PhD students with advanced skills to carry out original, applied and innovative research.
With three areas of specialisation – Metabonomics and Medical Biotechnology, Translational Neurosciences and Healthy Environments and Lifestyles – the Doctoral Programme promotes collaboration across different scientific disciplines, focusing on the development of innovative products and services, publication in internationally renowned scientific journals, and the training of researchers equipped to address emerging health challenges.
Its link to RISE-Health sets DiTH apart from other doctoral programmes, as this connection ensures that advanced training is not carried out in isolation from the world-class research conducted by the country’s largest research unit.
