The expert will head the Vice-Rector’s Office for Cooperation and Knowledge Promotion until 2030.
Anabela Silva, a researcher at RISE-Health, has been appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Cooperation and Knowledge Valorisation at the University of Aveiro, an institution with which she has been collaborating since 2001.
As part of the vice-chancellor’s team led by Artur Silva, elected for the 2026–2030 term, Anabela Silva will work to “establish the University of Aveiro in an increasingly demanding context, strengthening the quality of teaching, the impact of research and its links with society”, according to the University of Aveiro website.
“The new team reflects the diversity, complementarity and human and scientific richness of the University of Aveiro, bringing together members from the university and polytechnic subsystems with widely recognised track records in teaching, research, innovation and academic management, and combining different generations, scientific fields and leadership experiences. Its composition, characterised by gender balance and a diversity of backgrounds, seeks to reflect a vision of a university that is more collaborative, accessible and capable of mobilising its community,” states Artur Silva.
In addition to Anabela Silva, Carlos Santos, Hugo Rodrigues and Susana Sardo have also taken up the posts of pro-rectors, with responsibilities in the areas of Information Systems and Modernisation, Infrastructure and Sustainability, and Culture, Intangible Heritage and Multiculturalism, respectively. The rector’s team also includes Luís Filipe Castro, Mara G. Freire and Sandra Soares as vice-rectors.
