The FMUP Junior Camp, organised by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), has now opened applications for the first edition of the initiative, which is supported by the RISE-Health Research Unit.

Taking place between 29 June and 10 July, the FMUP Junior Camp will feature workshops, laboratory sessions, simulations and debates led by lecturers and researchers from RISE-Health and FMUP.

With an exploratory focus, the initiative will enable Year 9 pupils to take their “first steps” into the world of healthcare, exploring areas such as biomedical research, innovation, digital health and bioethics.

In addition to its informative aspect, the FMUP Junior Camp programme also includes visits to FMUP’s research and clinical training facilities, thereby establishing itself as a unique opportunity for each participant to gain an insight into different contexts of medical, scientific and technological practice.

The first edition of Junior Camp is organised in collaboration with Universidade Júnior and forms part of FMUP’s 2026 Summer School. The scientific coordination of the initiative will be led by Ivone Duarte and Andreia Teixeira, specialists from RISE-Health and FMUP.
