RISE-Health Supports Course Dedicated to Biomedical Research at FMUP

The training course will take place between 18th and 20th February 2026.

The RISE-Health research unit will organise, together with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), a course focused on experimental rigour in the design, data analysis and communication of basic biomedical research results.

Under the title “Experimental Rigor in Basic Biomedical Research Design, Data Analysis and Reporting,” the continuing education course will take place from 18 to 20 February 2026 at the FMUP Centre for Medical Investigation and will be taught by researchers Martin Michel (University of Mainz), Dora Pinho (FMUP | RISE-Health) and Ana Charrua (FMUP | RISE-Health).

The course is designed to provide researchers with essential knowledge in experimental design and statistical analysis, with a particular focus on improving the reliability, robustness and reproducibility of pre-clinical studies. Through a programme combining lectures, debates and practical sessions, participants will be able to recognise and reduce bias, apply appropriate statistical methods and adhere to best practices in data integrity and communication.

Upon completing the training, trainees will be able to conduct statistically sound research initiatives and contribute to more reliable scientific outcomes.

Access to the ‘Experimental Rigor in Basic Biomedical Research Design, Data Analysis and Reporting’ training course is limited and requires payment of a fee. To find out more about this course or to clarify any questions, please contact us by email: erbbr@med.up.pt
