RISE-Health Participates in European Conference and Welcomes Young International Researchers

The Round Table will take place on October 22, at 10:00 a.m., in the Abel Salazar Building.

 

The RISE-Health Research Unit and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) are promoting a round table discussion entitled “Translational and clinical research can change medical practice”, which will take place on October 22, at 10h00, in the Abel Salazar Building, coordinated by Francisco Cruz (RISE-Health/FMUP), principal investigator of the Pain, Neurourology, and Spine group of Theme Line 2 – Neurosciences of this unit.

In total, five researchers from RISE-Health will participate in this Round Table. In addition to Francisco Cruz, researchers Pedro Mendes Ferreira, Rui Cerqueira, Luís Jacinto, and Patrícia Monteiro (RISE-Health/FMUP) will also participate in this initiative focused on clinical and translational research, which will address the areas of Oncology, Cardiology, and Neuroengineering.

Altamiro da Costa Pereira (RISE-Health/FMUP), director of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, and Ana Paula França (RISE-Health/ESEP), vice-president of the Porto School of Nursing, will also participate in the event. Researchers Ana Charrua, Luís Azevedo, and Nuno Vale (RISE-Health/FMUP) will moderate different activities within the scope of this international initiative.

Aimed primarily at postgraduate students, the 6th Annual Student Research Conference (ASRC) is part of the activities of the European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH) and provides a unique opportunity for students from across Europe to discuss global health.

RISE-Health welcomes EUGLOH delegation

In the context of the 6th Annual Student Research Conference (ASRC) and the EUGLOH Annual Summit 2025, participants in this initiative are scheduled to visit the RISE-Health facilities at its headquarters, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto.

Starting at 2:00 p.m., visitors will meet with Fernando Schmitt, Director of the Research Unit, who will tell them more about the largest research unit in the country. The program also includes a visit to the Experimental Surgery facilities, the Physiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Laboratory, the Personalized Medicine Laboratory, and the Neurophysiology and Neuroengineering Laboratory.
