Researchers from RISE-Health were featured in a list compiled by Stanford University
The RISE-Health Research Unit is represented by thirteen researchers on the list of the world’s most cited scientists in 2024.
The latest version of the ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists list’, developed by researchers at Stanford University (USA) and published by the prestigious publisher Elsevier, covers a total of 22 areas and 174 scientific disciplines, highlighting a select group of scientists.
The list was compiled using the C-Score, an indicator that analyses the impact of research according to criteria such as the number of articles cited and the total number of citations, also taking into account other factors such as co-authorship or the author’s position in the published work.
RISE-Health is represented by thirteen researchers on the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, including names such as Fernando Schmitt, director of the Research Unit, Adelino Leite-Moreira, Armando Mansilha, Bernardo Sousa Pinto and Francisco Cruz (RISE-Health/FMUP) and Constança Paúl (RISE-Health@/ICBAS-UP). Fernando Magro, João Pedro Ferreira, João Vasco Santos, Luís Azevedo, Matilde Monteiro Soares, Nuno Vale and Patrício Soares da Silva (RISE-Health/FMUP) are also among the most cited researchers in 2024.
The list of most cited researchers (with the highest C-Score) from the RISE-Health Research Unit throughout their careers includes Fernando Schmitt, Adelino Leite-Moreira, António Carlos Sarmento, Fernando Magro, Francisco Cruz, João Pedro Ferreira and Patrício Soares da Silva (RISE-Health/FMUP).
In total, the list includes more than 236,000 scientists from around the world, 984 of whom work or have worked in Portuguese scientific institutions.
The ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists list’ was first published in 2019 and aims, in the long term, to create a database of more than 100,000 scientists, available to the public. The original study can be consulted on the Public Library of Science Biology (PLOS Biology) portal.
