News / Doctoral Student Commission ‘is the basis’ of RISE-Health
The student representative body was launched on 27 March at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, with the participation of researchers and representatives of RISE-Health management institutions.
RISE-Health launched its Doctoral Student Committee (CED RISE-Health). The initiative, which took place at the Medical Research Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, featured speeches by Fernando Schmitt, RISE-Health coordinator, and Lara Fonseca, current president of the CED RISE-Health.
For the leader of the country’s largest research unit and coordinator of the Associate Laboratory RISE, ‘doctoral students are the basis for RISE-Health to develop in terms of research’.
In her speech, Lara Fonseca emphasised the role that the CED RISE-Health aims to play. ‘The RISE-Health Doctoral Student Committee aims to help unite doctoral students and integrate them into the Research Unit,’ she explained, adding that “civic and scientific education” is also part of the CED RISE-Health’s priorities.
‘The link between the doctoral students and the integrated researchers is very important, as it makes it easier to understand the dynamics of the Research Unit and guarantees better support for all the students,’ she said.
