combinada com intelig\u00eancia artificial (IA), pode constituir uma alternativa promissora para a telemonitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o respirat\u00f3ria pedi\u00e1trica, concluiu um grupo de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o liderado por cientistas da unidade de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o RISE-Health e da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP).<\/p><p>Este \u00e9 o <strong>primeiro estudo a aplicar um modelo de IA para detetar ru\u00eddo respirat\u00f3rio agudo, semelhante a um assobio ou &#8220;chiado no peito&#8221; atrav\u00e9s de sons respirat\u00f3rios gravados por <em>smartphone<\/em><\/strong> e contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de 217 crian\u00e7as e adolescentes com idades compreendidas entre os 0 e os 17 anos.<\/p><p>Os resultados revelaram que o <strong>modelo de IA desenvolvido por este grupo de investigadores nacionais registou uma precis\u00e3o de 87% na dete\u00e7\u00e3o de ru\u00eddos respirat\u00f3rios<\/strong>, um resultado considerado promissor por <strong>Cristina J\u00e1come<\/strong> e <strong>In\u00eas Pais-Cunha<\/strong>, coordenadoras do estudo e investigadoras da RISE-Health e da FMUP.<\/p><p>\u201cAtualmente, o modelo padr\u00e3o para o diagn\u00f3stico e o acompanhamento de doen\u00e7as respirat\u00f3rias pedi\u00e1tricas baseia-se na avalia\u00e7\u00e3o cl\u00ednica presencial. Neste formato, o m\u00e9dico recolhe o hist\u00f3rico de sintomas junto dos pais e da crian\u00e7a, realiza o exame f\u00edsico \u2014 recorrendo ao estetosc\u00f3pio tradicional para detetar sinais ac\u00fasticos como sibilos ou fervores \u2014 e solicita exames complementares, tais como a espirometria\u201d, explicam.<\/p><p>De acordo com as especialistas, \u201cno modelo tradicional, existe uma dificuldade em detetar os per\u00edodos de agudiza\u00e7\u00e3o entre as consultas. A gest\u00e3o cl\u00ednica depende, assim, de uma avalia\u00e7\u00e3o indireta do controlo da doen\u00e7a, o que pode introduzir subjetividade e levar a decis\u00f5es terap\u00eauticas menos precisas\u201d.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2>O futuro do diagn\u00f3stico<\/h2><p>No estudo publicado na revista cient\u00edfica <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00431-026-07036-9\"><em>European Journal of Pediatrics<\/em><\/a> e que integrou 2020 grava\u00e7\u00f5es de sons respirat\u00f3rios atrav\u00e9s de <em>smartphones<\/em>, as especialistas concluem que \u201ca ausculta\u00e7\u00e3o por <em>smartphone<\/em> \u00e9 uma tecnologia promissora para integrar em sistemas de monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o remota\u201d.<\/p><p>\u201cA ampla disponibilidade de <em>smartphones<\/em> equipados com microfones de alta qualidade oferece uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00e1tica, n\u00e3o invasiva e escal\u00e1vel para a grava\u00e7\u00e3o de sons respirat\u00f3rios em ambientes cl\u00ednicos e dom\u00e9sticos, eliminando assim a necessidade de dispositivos adicionais e permitindo a recolha de dados atrav\u00e9s de uma \u00fanica ferramenta familiar\u201d, pode ler-se no trabalho cient\u00edfico.<\/p><p>Segundo as investigadoras, <strong>\u201ca ausculta\u00e7\u00e3o pulmonar atrav\u00e9s do smartphone torna-se especialmente valiosa nos cuidados pedi\u00e1tricos<\/strong>, uma vez que contorna a barreira da necessidade de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o ativa da crian\u00e7a\u201d, sendo esta uma \u201ctecnologia que viabiliza e escala a monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 dist\u00e2ncia, funcionando como um pilar central para futuros Sistemas de Apoio \u00e0 Decis\u00e3o Cl\u00ednica\u201d.<\/p><p>As investigadoras indicam ainda que, al\u00e9m da identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de sibilos, <strong>\u201cestas grava\u00e7\u00f5es poder\u00e3o tamb\u00e9m ser analisadas para identificar outros sons, designados por fervores ou crepita\u00e7\u00f5es (<em>crackles<\/em>), que s\u00e3o biomarcadores ac\u00fasticos essenciais para o diagn\u00f3stico e monitoriza\u00e7\u00e3o de crian\u00e7as com doen\u00e7as respirat\u00f3rias cr\u00f3nicas, como fibrose qu\u00edstica, e com infe\u00e7\u00f5es do trato respirat\u00f3rio inferior, como a pneumonia\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Liderado por Cristina J\u00e1come (RISE-Health\/FMUP), o artigo cient\u00edfico \u201cWheeze detection in real-world pediatric care: AI applied to smartphone lung auscultation\u201d, publicado na <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00431-026-07036-9\"><em>European Journal of Pediatrics<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>contou com a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de In\u00eas Pais-Cunha, Maria Catarina Silva, Henrique Ferreira-Cardoso, Jo\u00e3o Fonseca e In\u00eas Azevedo, investigadores da FMUP e da unidade de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o
