A Linha tem\u00e1tica 3 \u2013 Hormonas, Infe\u00e7\u00e3o, Inflama\u00e7\u00e3o e Metabolismo<\/i><\/b> foca-se no estudo dos mecanismos fisiopatol\u00f3gicos, biomarcadores de in\u00edcio de doen\u00e7a, progress\u00e3o e subtipos, bem como no estudo da resposta ao tratamento e suas implica\u00e7\u00f5es cl\u00ednicas em contextos patol\u00f3gicos com componente hormonal, metab\u00f3lico, infecioso ou inflamat\u00f3rio e carga de doen\u00e7a significativa.<\/p>

A LT3 \u00e9 formada por quatro grupos multidisciplinares, beneficiando de laborat\u00f3rios, tecnologias e abordagens pioneiros e seguindo uma perspetiva translacional, do laborat\u00f3rio \u00e0 cabeceira do doente e desta para o laborat\u00f3rio, na qual os cl\u00ednicos e n\u00e3o-cl\u00ednicos trabalham em conjunto para fazerem avan\u00e7ar o conhecimento e para terem impacto a n\u00edvel cient\u00edfico e social.<\/p>

Esta Linha de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o envolve tamb\u00e9m colabora\u00e7\u00f5es robustas com departamentos cl\u00ednicos de hospitais universit\u00e1rios centrais e de unidades de cuidados de sa\u00fade prim\u00e1rios, assim como com biobancos. Lu\u00eds Taborda Barata coordena a Linha tem\u00e1tica 3 \u2013 Hormonas, Infe\u00e7\u00e3o, Inflama\u00e7\u00e3o e Metabolismo do RISE-Health. \u00c9 Professor Catedr\u00e1tico de Medicina na\u00a0Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias da Sa\u00fade da Universidade da Beira Interior<\/a> (UBI) e diretor do Departamento de Alergia e Imunologia Cl\u00ednica da Unidade Local de Sa\u00fade (ULS) da Cova da Beira.
\u00a0
Graduou-se em Medicina pela Universidade de Coimbra em 1987 e fez forma\u00e7\u00e3o cl\u00ednica em Imunoalergologia nos Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra (HUC) e no Royal Brompton Hospital (RHB), em Londres, de 1990 a 1998. Em 1993, fez mestrado em Imunologia pela Universidade do Porto e, em 1998, concluiu o doutoramento em Medicina (Imperial College, Londres), com um trabalho sobre os mecanismos das doen\u00e7as al\u00e9rgicas. Como alergologista, regressou ao National Heart and Lung Institute\u00a0para estudar os mecanismos de alergia e ao Royal Brompton Hospital (RHB), como Consultor Honor\u00e1rio.

Contribuiu para estabelecer a nova escola m\u00e9dica da UBI, onde assumiu responsabilidades como primeiro presidente do Departamento de Ci\u00eancias M\u00e9dicas, primeiro e atual Coordenador do Centro de Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o em Ci\u00eancias da Sa\u00fade da UBI (CICS-UBI), diretor da Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias da Sa\u00fade, Presidente do Centro Acad\u00e9mico Cl\u00ednico das Beiras (CACB) e Diretor do curso de Medicina.

Nos \u00faltimos anos, assumiu responsabilidades como membro de pain\u00e9is de avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de v\u00e1rias organiza\u00e7\u00f5es (por exemplo, coordenador do Conselho Cient\u00edfico da Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ci\u00eancia e a Tecnologia, representante em Portugal do Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases \u2013 GARD \u2013 Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade, membro do Conselho Nacional de Ci\u00eancia, Tecnologia e Inova\u00e7\u00e3o, nomeado pelo Primeiro-Ministro) e tem desempenhado pap\u00e9is relevantes na promo\u00e7\u00e3o de projetos colaborativos nacionais e internacionais, enquanto, como investigador, tem estado envolvido na transla\u00e7\u00e3o do conhecimento em pol\u00edticas sobre doen\u00e7as respirat\u00f3rias e al\u00e9rgicas, contribuindo para mudan\u00e7as nas pol\u00edticas de sa\u00fade e nas pr\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
