Luís Filipe Azevedo

MD. PhD.

Luís Filipe Azevedo is a principal researcher at CINTESIS, coordinating the research group EvidenS&HTA – Evidence-Based Decision Making, Research Synthesis and Health Technology Assessment, and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). At this institution, he is the director of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Research and Health Services (PDICSS) and also has an active role in the Doctoral Program in Health Data Science (HEADS). He was a founding member of Cochrane Portugal (CP), a multinational organization focused on health information.

He is also a member of CATS (Health Technology Assessment Commission) and was a member of the ECRIN – (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) Panel of Methodologists.

He has a degree in Medicine from FMUP (2001), a postgraduate degree in Probability and Statistics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (2006), and a PhD in Clinical Research and Health Services (2013) from FMUP.

In research, his fields of interest are clinical and health services research, evidence-based decision-making, evidence synthesis – systematic reviews and meta-analysis, biostatistics, health technology assessment, decision analysis, economic evaluation, and clinical trials; with particular emphasis on the applied clinical fields of pain medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and nutrition.
